A wander around the paths and lanes near Fishguard

A couple of days ago we had a good spell of weather and not wishing to miss an opportunity, I went for a walk and took my sketchbook. This great little abandoned church, St Justinian's at Scleddau near Fishguard, is well away from the main A40 road, only accessible via a track and then on foot, it is draped in ivy and huddled in a fold of the land, away from the bustle of passing traffic.


Yesterday I spent some time in South Pembrokeshire walking on the coast around Manorbier and did some drawing but nothing startling to my mind, so I'll pass on that one until the next time that I produce something worthwhile!

It's been a while...

Hands-up, I have been extremely tardy with my posts here of late. I'm not sure what happened, I did get very busy with work in February/March and my objective of regular sketching did also slip somewhat. Some of the weather we've been having hasn't helped much and has meant I have been out drawing or painting less than I'd like to have done. Excuses over, I shall now endeavour to try and catch up a bit with some drawings I scanned from late last year and then maybe get onto some more recent ones that deserve an airing. And create more art, obviously. This is a quick-ish sketch of Tower Hill, Fishguard seen from Penslade.

Making an effort

Despite a fairly busy day (decorating mostly), I put my mind to getting out and doing some more drawing this morning. I stopped short of getting the 'colours' out, because of limited time available (lousy excuse?), but I drew these two different views at Lower Town - the first in charcoal and the second in pencil. Both were on an A3 pad, which I had a bit of a scuffle with the wind over, as it was trying to wrest the pages from me as I drew - par for the course around here...
